UNESCO and the United Nations partner to launch poetry contest for Canadian High School students!

The Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCU) has partnered with the Representation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Canada to launch a contest for students on the theme of “Refugees and Human Rights”. The contest is open to students between grades 7 and grade 12, in schools across Canada, in French and English, until Friday April 25th 2014.

The documentary follows children and parents enrolled in groundbreaking early childhood interventions that are currently being used or piloted in various parts of Canada — at home, in school and in the community — to help children (especially those at-risk because of Adverse Childhood Experiences) master the skills they need to be successful later in life.

UBC School of Nursing releases “Cycles”, video resource for schools about decision making and marijuana use

A team of researchers at UBC School of Nursing recently produced a short film (CYCLES trailer) which explores the use of marijuana in the lives of two young people. This fictional drama is based on earlier qualitative research projects focused on decision making and marijuana use, highlighting different reasons for use, its personal impact, and its potential influence on others.
